Hi, My name is Richard Belshaw and I was originally trained in systems design engineering, obtaining a graduate degree in that field. I have since applied it to economics, energy policy, chemical systems, environmental systems, electrical systems, and my ideas of society.

The key is that at the applicable scale of the problem, there are macroscopic emergent properties and interactions that are relavant, and sometimes they cross scale boundaries. One good example are clouds,   they are emergent properties in our atmosphere of water vapour, temperature, pressure and wind currents,  while in the ocean there are thermoclines and currents like the gulf stream and many other currents affect how the ocean behaves. I wanted to explore how fertilizers in general and man made CO2 and methane affect the ocean, acidity, oxygen dead zones and temperature. This blog explores these themes with warnings for humanity.

I am also cognizant of the rising sitings of UFOs out there, and for a good synopsis, go to jimharold.net and peruse.  Not all sitings are valid, but many are credible and with modern cameras, many are now caught on video and can be analyzed for veracity, even hoaxes and special effects.

I hope you enjoy this site and feel free to register and contribute to the dialogue. Also, I have included some pictures of natural scenes in the gallery which I found alluring, and interesting and I hope you find them so too, as photography and film are interests of mine. The poetry spans 20 years and illustrates some concepts that society might still need to learn in order to progress. In particular why weather can not be predicted effectively for specific effects over long periods due to Chaos theory, however means and center of moment calculations about bulk properties like CO2 concentration in the atmosphere can effectively be predicted barring revolutionary technological change, some of which is mentioned and should be of interest to investors.

Best wishes, Richard
